Huw has over 25 years’ experience of working at the interface between academia and industry. He holds a first degree in Engineering Science and a doctorate in Medical Engineering. His work in the medical device sector has included drug delivery technology, rehabilitation equipment and bespoke surgical models. These projects have ranged from partnerships with small university spin-outs through to consultancy for major pharmaceutical companies.
Huw has been engaged with a number of collaborative programmes with universities across South Wales. He has taught Masters Modules, supervised numerous PhD completions and has extensive experience of managing the research degree process.
In his current role at CBM, Huw is responsible for integrating research into the centre’s commercial and knowledge transfer activities. He enjoys taking an interdisciplinary approach in order to drive innovation. This has resulted in a broad range of research interests, such as medical device risk management, novel additive manufacturing technology and Bayesian statistics.
